Members of the order Odonata (meaning "toothed ones", as they are aggressive hunters!) in the sub-order Zygoptera (meaning "paired wings"), most damselflies are about the size of a toothpick. They are generally found near water, where they lay their eggs and live out their larval stage; the adults fly through the grass and weeds looking for tasty bugs or attractive members of the same species and opposite sex.
