Forktails are small damselflies - about half the size of a toothpick - in the genus Ischnura, Sprites are even smaller, in the genus Nehalennia. They are hard to spot and hard to photograph, though they are fairly abundant in my field; I also managed to catch one at the southern tip of Baja California!
