Members of the order Odonata (meaning "toothed ones", as they are aggressive hunters!) in the sub-order Anisoptera (meaning "different wings" - they control each wing independently). The smallest dragonflies are about the size of half of a kitchen match; the largest are comparable to a long cigarette. These are the helicopters of the insect world, as maneuverable (and almost as fast) as hummingbirds.
