Female Eastern Pondhawks (Erythemis simplicicollis) have a bright green thorax and a yellow-and-black abdomen. The males have a less intense green thorax and a blue abdomen, developing white pruinosity as they mature. Male Blue Dashers look quite similar, being distinguished by a black striped thorax.
